Dianne K Wood
Born 20/08/1947
I have had no formal Art or Textile Art Education, totally self taught. ÃÂ I have been a Textile Artist for 21 years and happiest when designing, dyeing fabric, quilting and embroiding. I do use some commercial fabrics but perfer hand dyed, natural dyes, indigo dyeing and procion dyes to get the right look in a piece.
I collect a myriad of things to include in my work, from vintage brooches, buttons, bead, unusual fabrics, embroideries, pieces of wood and rusty metal items. ÃÂ Also Amber from Estonia, hand beaten copper rings and ceramic beads and rings from the USA. ÃÂ Emu Egg shell rings and bone embellishments from Australia.
I am involved with organizations and Galleries involved with Textile Art. ÃÂ I have had Solo Exhibitions and been included in Exhibitions with other Artists, my work is on Permament exhibition at several Galleries around Adelaide South Australia.
My work is quite "instictive" some pieces are almost spiritual: the work starts as an idea which rolls around for a while then when I am ready the piece just comes to life. ÃÂ First the colours, the structure and then the embellishments. ÃÂ I work quickly when everything is in place.
My Art and craft has been sold around the world and all over Australia, in 2013/14 a Chinese Film Crew made a documentary about me and my work. |
